The biggest difference is ownership. Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned by their members, while banks are for-profit institutions owned by shareholders. Because of this, credit unions often return earnings to members through competitive rates, lower fees, and personalized service. At Trax Credit Union, our focus is helping our members achieve their financial goals — not maximizing profits.
Employees or retirees of CSX Railroad Employees, members of Trax Company Groups Employees, members of Select Employee Groups, family members of current members in good standing, or anyone who lives, worships, or is employed near a branch.
To open your account online a minimum of $5 to deposit into your account is required. Additional required documents are as follows: Government Issued Identification or Passport, Current Physical Mailing Address (No PO Box), Social Security Number, and Date of Birth.
To open your account at a branch, we will need: Valid Driver's License and Social Security Card.
To open your account by mail we will need: Copy of your Valid Driver's License and a copy of your Social Security Card. Your signature on the application must be notarized.
There are no fees to become a member.
Yes! We offer Shared Branching services that allow you to use member credit unions nationwide as if it were your home branch to do a number of transactions, including: deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, transfers between accounts, purchase money orders and cashier’s checks, and more.
Yes. You may apply for your membership online.
